wondering if it would be a good idea to write down my grievances and put in a letter of disassociation, or simply fade and deal with my anger another way?

Sorry, but all those postings sounded like a board meeting of "Ostriches Anonymous"....could someone find one intelligent thought amongst the group.....sheeeessshhh...I don't know how you ex-JW's put up with it when you were on the inside.
all of the non-jw's that i know were shocked to hear that the jw's consider worldly people to be part of satan's world.
most non-jw's only know that the jw's are holy rollers who go door to door trying to convert.
they really don't know much more about them and to learn this was a bit of an education.. devon
When I walked in to work today, one of the first things a friend said to me was "Did you catch Dateline last night about the Jehovah's Witnesses.....what a bunch of losers" He was annoyed at the thought that they think all other people but them will be destroyed by God.
When you think of it, the JW's have very few 'positives' to offer...almost everything is negative and done out of fear. What a way to go through life.

the intention of the media is to present the illusion of impartially informing, all the while pandering to prejudice and ignorance in order to persuade to a particular point of view.
datelines presentation of the watchtowers child abuse issue was a case study in the black art of media propaganda.. from the very beginning of the presentation dateline was intent on giving the public a negative impression of jehovahs witnesses by portraying us all as oddball crackpots whose religion revolves around the doctrine that we dont celebrate birthdays and that all non-believers are possessed by the devil and that we want them all to die.
the Dateline production was directed at an uniformed and generally prejudiced public.
You've got to be kidding. Hardly anyone knows WHO Jehovah's Witnesses are let alone WHAT they believe in. PREJUDICED...give me a break!

put out some articles on how elders should show compassion to these victims.I find this last line incredible. WHY does it take putting out articles to elders to show compassion? To a TRUE man-of-God, that should come natural and go without speaking. okay folks major news here.. dateline won its time slot with a 9.2 rating and a 16 percent share.. there are an estimated 102.2 million television households in the usa.
a single ratings point represents 1%, or 1,022,000 households.
Here's the national SHARE averages during Dateline JW report:
DATELINE (NBC): 16
JAG (CBS): 11
THE MOLE (ABC): 7
70's SHOW (FOX): 8
Show won across all demos (which means all different age groups/genders) except for the last 15 min. of NBA game which garnered a 19 SHARE in the 18-34 year olds. Those figures are GREAT! Just what NBC wants to see. Again, 16 share means, 16 % of all the tv's that were on were watching Dateline. The total of the above 4 shows is 42, which means 42% of tv's were watching those top 4 shows - all other tv's were tuned to other numerous 'networks' or cable show.

So since morals are not valid on 200+ year old figures, I guess there was nothing wrong with the inquesition or that Vlad the impaler was a great noble leader for his people.
Say what? .... it's apples and oranges... you're trying to judge someone in the 18th century with the benefit of over 200 years of societal progression. Of course slavery was immoral....duh! Study more about the life of Thomas Jefferson and his writings on slavery and come back and have a conversation with more than just 'he was a slave owner'. At best, we can only second guess whatever conditions society and his family rendered him during his time on earth - OUR real connection with Thomas Jefferson is the legacy he and the founding fathers left us with two of the most magnificent man-made documents - The Declaration of Independence and The Bill of Rights. Clearly, we are free to be here writing and opinionating at this moment because of their work and struggle.
